For many people, the idea of traveling to Peru to help build homes sounds exciting—but not always possible. Work, family, schedules, and finances can make it hard to commit to a trip. The good news is that you don’t have to travel to make a difference.

At Peru Hope and the Gregersen Foundation, we’ve seen that change often starts with the small things. One person doing one small act may not seem like much, but when hundreds of people do the same, the impact is huge. Here are three simple ways you can be part of building hope right from where you are:

1. Skip the Snack, Build a Home

Think about the little extras in your week... maybe it’s a drink, a lunch out, or a quick snack run. Skipping just one of those and setting aside $5, $10, or $20 can buy real materials for a home in Peru. That might mean a bag of cement, a set of nails, or the paint for a bedroom wall.

It’s not about the size of the gift, it’s about consistency and heart. Small amounts given by many people are what make homes possible for families who have been waiting years for stability. You can donate here: https://gregersenfoundation.com/pages/donations

2. Share the Story With One Person

We often underestimate the power of simply telling someone else about a cause we care about. Maybe it’s a quick conversation at work, a text to a friend, or sharing a post on social media. You never know who might be moved to take action after hearing the story.

Many of our most committed volunteers and donors got involved because someone casually mentioned Peru Hope to them. Every time you share, you’re not just passing along information, you’re inviting another person into the mission.

3. Collect Your Spare Change

We all have extra coins lying around, in our cars, drawers, and pockets. Gathering it together and donating it may seem small, but it adds up fast. In fact, some families in Peru live on less each day than the amount of change we forget about in a cupholder.

It’s a powerful reminder that what feels small to us can mean everything to someone else.

Small Acts, Big Hope

Peru Hope isn’t built only on large donations or big trips, it’s built on small, consistent acts of kindness from people like you. When you choose to give up a coffee, share the story, or donate your spare change, you become part of a larger movement that transforms lives.

So if now isn’t the right time to travel, that’s okay. You can still be a builder of hope right where you are. And when the time does come for you to visit Peru, you’ll already know you’ve been part of the work from the very beginning.
